APRIL FAMILY FUN WEEKEND PLANNER 4-15 / 4-17

We are thick in the middle of Spring Break 2011! Many kids are on vacation and this coming week, even more kids will be out of school. With Easter being little over a week away, the Easter festivities are in full swing all over town. For a complete listing of Easter in events in San Diego, CLICK HERE

Friday  4.15.11

RIO - When Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, meets the fiercely independent, as well as last female of his species, Jewel (Anne Hathaway), he takes off on a fun filled adventure to Rio de Janeiro with the bird of his dreams. Their goal: Save their species from extinction. This 3-D animated flick -- from the Ice Age series' co director -- will certainly be a crowd pleaser. While the story lacks suspense, the film packs in vocal talent. Plus, a few infectious, Latin-flavored musical numbers spice things up. Rated: G

Next week Friday 4.22.11 is Earth Day. DisneyNature will be releasing their second film titled "African Cats". Watch this movie with your family between opening day (April 22) and April 28th, and Disney will make a donation to the African Wildlife Foundation.

An epic true story set against the backdrop of one of the wildest places on Earth, "African Cats" captures the real-life love, humor and determination of the majestic kings of the savanna. The story features Mara, an endearing lion cub who strives to grow up with her mother's strength, spirit and wisdom; Sita, a fearless cheetah and single mother of five mischievous newborns; and Fang, a proud leader of the pride who must defend his family from a once banished lion. Disneynature brings "The Lion King" to life on the big screen in this True Life Adventure directed by Keith Scholey and Alastair Fothergill ("Earth"). An awe-inspiring adventure blending family bonds with the power and cunning of the wild, "African Cats" leaps into theatres on Earth Day, April 22, 2011. Rated: G
