Mother's Day for any budget

Mother's Day is right around the corner. The one day a year that we pay tribute to the women in our life that either gave birth to us, gave birth to our children or any woman that plays a motherly role in our life. If you ask me, I think everyday should be Mother's Day, because there is not subsitute for a mother's love . If you have not yet made your plans for Mother's Day, you better start NOW! Aside from Valentines day, Mother's day is one of the hardest holidays to get any kind of reservation for at the last minute. And our Mom's deserve a well planned celebration!

Now, I know times are tough for all of us. And as much as we would want to, we may not be able to afford the type of celebration for our mom's that we would like. But remember, it's not about how much we spend or how extravagant our celebration is, the true meaning is really just to show mom how much she means to us. It's always the thought that counts and you can make Mother's Day special, no matter what your budget is. To help you with your plans, I have put together a list of kid friendly suggestions that my family and I have tried over the years.

The interior is cozy and romantic, with huge stone fireplaces, masses of hanging green plants, dark wood paneling, beamed ceilings, and old airplane wings hanging over the dining area. There are even headphones at some of the tables for diners to listen to the FAA control tower. On warm evenings and at lunchtime you can sit outdoors on a grassy embankment at umbrella topped tables and be surrounded by an old model airplane, an army jeep, and a duck pond. Free things to do on Mother's Day
Mom wants to sleep in? How about breakfast in bed?

Breakfast in bed on Mother's Day—it may sound like a cliché, but it will truly warm any mom's heart. Whether it's an elaborate feast prepared by experienced cooks, or simply a plate of buttered toast delivered by excited little hands, there's no better way to let Mom know that she's loved and appreciated, right from the start of her day.

Friday  4.15.11

RIO - When Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, meets the fiercely independent, as well as last female of his species, Jewel (Anne Hathaway), he takes off on a fun filled adventure to Rio de Janeiro with the bird of his dreams. Their goal: Save their species from extinction. This 3-D animated flick -- from the Ice Age series' co director -- will certainly be a crowd pleaser. While the story lacks suspense, the film packs in vocal talent. Plus, a few infectious, Latin-flavored musical numbers spice things up. Rated: G
