We're Back!!!
We're back! As I noted last week, I just started a new job recently, and after many years of having Saturday and Sunday's off, I now have to work weekends. With that said, I am challenged to look for fun things to do with my family, not only on the weekends, but also the weekdays. And if there's one thing that San Diego is NOT lacking, it's fun things to do. I was very surprised to find that there are so many fun things to do during the week. I've also decided to change my weekly blog from a "Family Fun Weekend Guide" to simply a "Family Fun Guide". I will still continue to try and give you the best scoops on family fun weekend events, as well as sharing family fun events during the week. What's New? We have just launched a NEW MOBILE VERSION of San Diego Daddies of Preschoolers. Now when you pull up our site on your mobile phone, you will be able to view our family fun guide in a quick easy to use mobile version. As part of our new "Penny Pinching Parents" idea, we've added a penny logo next to all events that are FREE. We will also be putting together weekly Penny Pinching ideas and or savings that a sure to help out everyone.
I also want to thank everyone for all of the comments and emails that I have received about the site. I am glad that many Dads and even Moms are finding the site useful. My goal is to make spending family time fun and easy for everyone. Just remember, ANY time is a great time for FAMILY time.

National Kids Bowl Free Program- As seen on NBC Nightly News, bowling centers all over the country are giving back to the community and providing safe, secure and fun ways for kids to have fun this summer. Starting today, you can register your child to bowl 2 free games a day, all summer long. The Mira Mesa and Kearny Mesa Bowling Centers are the only 2 bowling centers in San Diego that are participating in San Diego. You do have to register, so visit www.kidsbowlfree.com for all the details. 
Del Mar Fair Opening Day- It's that time again. The fair is back in town for 22 days of fun.. And yes...I know it's the San Diego County Fair, but it will forever me the Del Mar fair to me. This year's theme is "Race To The Fair" and I'm sure after seeing the entertainment line up and our cost saving tips, you will be! Opening Day at the fair will also feature a Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo concert on the Grandstand Stage. For more information of this year fair events, visit www.sdfair.com

Philip Rivers 5k Walk and Run (7:00am)- Come join Philip Rivers in a 5k walk & fun run benefiting his Rivers of Hope Foundation supporting Foster Care and adoption programs throughout San Diego County. The Philip Rivers 5K Walk & Fun Run presented by EDCO will take place Saturday, June 11, 2011 at NTC Park at Liberty Station in beautiful Point Loma. This is a family-friendly event that will include games and fun for everyone. By registering for this event you will receive an all-inclusive package that includes a Philip Rivers 5K t-shirt. And after the race there will be an autograph booth with both current and past NFL players. 
Lowes Build and Grow Project- Sign your child up for this FREE hands on building workshop at your local Lowes hardware store. Kids will have the opertunity to create a cool wood project that they can take home and maybe even give to dad on Father's day. Space is very limited. You do have to register in advance by visiting www.lowesbuildandgrow.com. There are still spots available in several north county locations. If you miss out this weekend, you can also register for the June 25th session. Museum of Photographic Arts Family Day (1:00pm) - Bring the family down to the MOPA Family Day and enjoy "Horton Hears a Who". In this Dr. Seuss classic, Horton the Elephant struggles to protect a microscopic community from his neighbors who refuse to believe it exists. The film will be followed by a fun-filled activity for families to enjoy! This event is free, but a suggested donation of
$5 is appreciated.
6th Annual Philippine Independence Festival (9am-530pm)- Join the celebration at the Mira Mesa Community Park as they celebrate Filipino Independence with exciting shows, presentations, staged performances, and demonstrations. It's a place where you can sit down for lunch, shop for merchandise, and be highly entertained all day long. It's an event for all ages to enjoy.
31st Annual Padres Tailgate & Firefighter Chili Cook-Off (12-4pm) This event will be held at the Embarcadero Marina Park South. 111 W Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA, 92101 and all proceeds will benefit the MDA Foundation. Per Tailgate tradition, participating local fire departments will create their signature chili and serve it from a specially themed and decorated booth. The event will also feature all-you-can-eat hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst and snacks. Admission is $40 for adults and $20 for children and includes a ticket to the Padres vs. Nationals game that evening. All Proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association! Last year’s event raised $40,000 for the MDA! Tickets can be purchased at the gate the day of the event.
State Farm Cars 2 Agents on a Mission Tour (Saturday and Sunday 10am-10pm)- With the highly anticipated Cars 2 movie just a few weeks away, Disney and State Farm are nearing the end of their cross country tour with a 2 day stop at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Come meet and have your picture taken with 3 life size cars from the Pixar animated film. Four-time Piston Cup champion Lightning McQueen, his best friend Mater and the newest Cars character Master British spy Finn McMissile.

Kids Sunday at Petco Park- Come watch the San Diego Padres as the take on the Nationals. It's kids Sunday, and just like every Sunday game, there will be a special autograph signing near the Park in the Park before the game. The first 8,000 kids under age 14 will also receive a pair of Padres sweatbands. This Sunday is also Military appreciation day. This week the Padres will salute the US Army. Monday June 13th, 2011

$3 Tuesday at the San Diego Fair- Tuesday July 14th is by far the cheapest day to visit the fair. Guest can purchase a $3 fair ticket from your local Albertson's grocery store with any $5 purchase. The $3 ticket is ONLY good for JULY 14, 2011. In addition, children 12 and under are FREE every Tuesday. Tuesday is also $2 taste of the fair Tuesday, where fairgoers can enjoy sample size portions of the fairs most popular food for $2.
